1993 Ford Escort Battery terminals

I took the battery out because it had green corrosion growing on it. Now I can't remember if when your standing up against the drivers side fender looking at the battery, if the positive is on the left of right? One of the battery cables has a black plastic piece attached to it.

The battery should have symbols on it near each post. One being + for positive and the otehr - for negative. Negative will be black in color while Positive is identified as red in color. Ground should be closest to firewall on your vehicle, black wire with maybe yellow stripe on it.
