1989 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 81000 miles
Sirs, we have taken all but an unknown fastener off of the driver side interior door, but can see there is one more mid arm rest, horizontal into door shell but no screw head or other visible piece of that fastener on the out side of the arm rest. Is it just a strong spring clip, rod or post that engages. Thanks much, Greg Santa Rosa, Ca.
below are the proper steps to replacing your vehicle's door panel
Remove the window regulator handle retaining screw and the handle.
Remove the door handle pull cup.
Unfasten the retaining screws from the armrest assembly. Remove the armrest.
On vehicles with power door locks, unplug the wiring connector.
Remove the trim panel retaining screws from the bottom of the map compartment, if so equipped.
Remove the retaining setscrew from the remote control mirror bezel, if so equipped.
Using a suitable push pin tool, pry the trim panel retaining push pins from the door interior panel.
Do not use the trim panel to pull the push pins from the door inner panel holes.
If the trim panel is to be replaced, transfer the trim panel retaining push pins to the new panel assembly.
Replace any bent, broken or missing push pins.
If the watershield has been removed, be sure to position it correctly before installing the trim panel.
Be sure that the armrest retaining clips are properly positioned on the door inner panel. If they have been dislodged, they must be installed before installing the watershield.
Position the trim panel to the door inner panel. Route the remote control outside mirror cable through the bezel, if so equipped.
Position the trim panel to the door inner panel and locate the push pins in the countersunk holes. Firmly push the trim panel at the push pin locations to set each push pin.
Install the set screw from the remote control outside mirror bezel, if so equipped.
Install the trim panel retaining screws at the bottom of the map pocket, if so equipped.
On vehicles with power door locks, attach the wiring connector.
Position the armrest to the trim panel and install the retaining screws.
Install the door handle pull cup.
Install the window regulator handle.
