Engine Cooling problem
1988 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

tryied to do a radiortor flush
but after driving for a bout an hour the engin died on me. Give it about a hour to cool down but the engine will not start. I may have a blown head gasket or starter motor problem. After I let it cool down, I tried starting it and I could hear the rrr-rr sound but its very faint, ligher than it normaly is.
How do I tell if its a head gasket or the starter, and if I blew I head gasket with the engine still try to start? Or is it something I do not know?

Starter turn the engine does the engine crank and rotate if so its not the starter if it does not
try to spin by hand if it does turn starter no good

remove spark plugs check for coolant
check oil if mixed with coolant
