1988 Ford Escort

I have an 88 Ford escort. Usiing as a temp car for about 7 months. Just put new tires on it and was told it has a valve tap and and oil additive was in order. This was a relative's car so don't know a lot about it. Is this something that will caue more serious issues down the road. The car won't be drivien that far everyday light usage. Thank you

Hi there,

The hydraulic lifter may have a bit of carbon stuck in a vale, try running an engine flush through the oil system this may help the problem, as long as the lifter doesn't become over noisy, there should not be a problem in the short term.
