1987 Ford Escort Fan heater blower

My fan heater has stopped working (worked one day, then not the next morning). Didn't smell any burning. Have been told its either the rear stat, switch or motor, but would need to get each part changed to see which one it is! Haven't just won the lottery so would like to know which one its best to start with.

Start by checking if the blower motor getting power
turn KEY on place fan switch on high unplug the blower motor using a test light or volt meter
check for battery power and ground on them two wires if have both remove and replace
if no power check fuses and wiring and ignition switch
if no ground
check resister, and wiring.
