I replaced my lithium battery in my key chain lock and it will not program as per instructions in my manual. Prior to that my alarm system would go off whenever I would open the door and would not shut off for several minutes. I took out the fuse for the horn and disconnected the car battery to reset the computer but the problem still persisted. Also, prior to all of this the battery light stayed on for several minutes then shut off and came back on from time to time. I had the battery checked and alternator checked which both turned out to be okay. The battery light still stays on after several minutes of driving. Would these problems happen to all be interconnected? If so, in your professional opinion what do you think the problem is? Thank you.

Personal opinion would be to diagnose the alternator light first. This is a simple system if I remember and for a mechanic should get an idea. Have seen some with wrong regulator cause the light to be on but charging correctly however.

The lock could be a bad module, or something else. Without looking, hard to say as low voltage can cause weird concerns.

Figure out the alternator, if problem persist after, then time for diagnosis of alarm. May be module, may be just burnt fuse.

When your battery goes bad the factory alarm gets activated by the computer. Do not panic if this is your case when you install a new battery and the alarm goes off. Take the key off the switch and put it in the driver door lock and unlock and re lock and unlock the door with the key until the alarm goes back on and stop making all the noise. You alarm is now set up. Now if your key fob does not work; open it with any knife replace the battery inside and put the key in the ignition of the car and turn the switch on and off until the doors locks and unlocks by themselves. Your fob is now set up!
This works in all Fords : Escape Explorer F and E series.
