1998 Ford Escape AC/heater admits odor

Smells problem
1998 Ford Escape 6 cyl Automatic

when I turn on the heater or AC I my car a strong smell of im guessing radiator fluid fills my car. It doesnt smell like gas & the radiator is fairly new. My check engine light comes on here and there to. What parts or where should I be checking even better where should I be looking

Your going to have to pressure test the cooling system but it sounds like the heater core may be leaking.
The check engine light is another issue. You will have to get the stored codes read and then start a new question for that problem.
