My ford is an Australian car
The climate control unit is working fine but usually
takes a while to come on at all and when it does it works 100%.
I have checked the circuit board for dry joints and I am
now suspecting connectors or a bad earth.
The manual for the EL falcon I have does not show the
correct wiring colours for the Fairmont model I have.
Can't find the correct wiring diagram on the inet.
Any ideas?

Yep, it sounds like the blower motor is going bad which is common. Test for power at the blower motor when it is not working on both wires, if you have power to one wire, the blower motor is bad and you need a new one. This video guide will help

I think this is the wiring diagram for it. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens. Ken

I have got the glove box out of my EL falcon fairmont but I still cannot find the blower
motor. It appears some more trim needs to come off first and I would appreciate some
specific guidelines as I could end up removing more trim then I need to.

I don't have images for this car but we can find it, this car is right hand driver correct? I would use a flashlight to check under the hood and dash, upload the images here and I will help you look.

I have 2 EL faimonts - a 97 station wagon and a 96 sedan, the latter still below 92000k
Both are RH drive models. The station wagon also has a dead climate control. The attached pics show the CCU removed again from the sedan because I previously checked for dry joints and I want to make sure I have not inadvertently shorted something out. The previous test drive was at night and everything came alive after a while. The most recent test drive was also at night and the CCU did not come alive after about 15k as before

The blower motor it up under the dash on the passenger side, not in the middle. Also, pop the hood and look towards the firewall, ( passenger side) thank for the images it helps.

I seem to be sending the same piciture multiple times. I plan to remove more trim
on the LHS to try and find the blower/motor.

The blower/fan gets its air from a grill between the hood and the firewall but I will double check this when the rain stops.
