I want to adjust my rear brakes on a 1982 FordvE250. Is it the same as most vehicles where it uses the star wheel to move them out?

Yes. But before adjusting, I recommend removing the drums, and checking the wheel cylinders, and shoes. Cleaning the dust out isnt a bad idea either. Check the condition of the drums, they can warp such as rotors. This can be checked by spinning the wheel while adjusting the shoes. If it catches on certain spot then they are warped. Its highly overlooked, so check it out.
