1997 crown victoria. 68,000 miles, not sure the engine size.

As if the bolts themselves werent hard enough to get to, once I got them all out, there isnt enough room to remove the starter. Do I actually have to lift or drop the engine to remove the starter for replacement? And how do I do that? What do I have to disconnect in order to accomplish this project. I have never seen a starter so hard to replace.

I had the same problem, and I did it, beleive me it can come out. It took me all day to remove and put back in. Its only three bolts, and if you are doing it by yourself, you should use a mirror and jack the car with jack stands so you can see and move around. Its hard but you won't have to drop the engine. You just have to play with it, it will fall out, because it did it with me.
