Air Conditioning problem
2000 Ford Crown Victoria V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 112000 miles

I have an automatic climate control system in my car. About 3 yrs ago I had a new a/c compressor installed. Recently my system started blowing cold air instead of heat regardless of the temperature selectred. The dealership told me I need a new compressor -- again. They supposedly used Ford factory parts on the first replacement in 2005. I was wondering how long should an a/c compressor last? I think the dealership is trying to rip me off.

Thanks.

Run the self diagnostic test on it by turning the key to on, then press off and floor at the same time, then within 2 secs, press auto, If there is a problem a trouble code will appear on the display. It may take a minute to bring up the code, and you will see a small bar moving around. Be patient! To exit self test, press the BLUE, cooler button this also retains error codes, To erase code and exit, press defrost, choose one of these before you power down the system. Post any codes recorded here and I will give you the problem! It sounds like you will see an 024 and or 025.
