1997 Ford Crown Victoria V8 Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I drove my car to Omaha, NE from Denver, Colorado along the way my car starting smoking from the inside. I had to pull over due to the smoke killing me, I had to leave my car. I was told that my Catalytic Converter had caught fire. I was wondering if true if I pushed severals holes in my Catalytic Converter would it run enough to perhaphs drive back to Colorado, or should I remove them all together, or what should I do, maybe just forget about my car. Also I was told that I have 4 Catalytic Converter, that sounds impossible, can a Ford Crown Vic 97 have 4 catalytic converters. I need some advice before I do anything. PLEASE HELP ME. THANKS

well, i just took mine off. it is true you do have four of them. there is two for each manifold. each side costs about 200-225 dollars a piece. i don't recommend punching holes in them because there is also four o2 sensors in the pipes. thats what measures your air/fuel mixture. doing this will result in engine running rough, and poor gas mileage.
