1996 Ford Crown Victoria

I have a 96 crown vic 4.6 for a motor will a bad crank position sensor make it seem like it jumped timing. When I crank the car over it tries to fire but doesn't start but have had problems with this sensor before

You need to find out if you have no spark or no gas!
Bad crank sensors can be checked by checking resistance in the 2 contacts. Most of the time if PCM isn't getting a signal from it you have no spark. A bad camshaft sensor will give you timming issues!
