My coolant is leaking in between the transmission and the engine, the mechanic claims it is the freeze plugs and the only way to fix it is by dropping the transmission. Is there any way to change the freeze plugs without going through such an expensive procedure?

HI there,

Thank you for the donation,

If you have a core plug leaking behind the flywheel, there is no other option, the transmission must be replaced to do this job.
