Major problem with my car please help

2000 ford contour 78000. It has problems that even a mechanic that was ranked #2 in the statecould not figure out. He thought he knew the problem but he didnt. Power loss, high pitch whistle sound, and check engine light. Ive done a computer test. No converter problem. Next the cam sensor. Nope. And then we found the computer read no reference voltage. I replaced the $400 computer but not a thing changed. My mechanic asked me to leave because my car made him feel stupid. Please help me thanks

A mechanic that is ranked #2 in the state for skill level. He asked me to leave politely because the longer I stayed with my car the more stupid he felt. He could not figure it out. I dont know the codes but I know the meaning of the code is no reference voltage and its comming from the engine comp.
