1999 Ford Contour catalytic codes

Car is running good, fuel economy is good, showing cat threshold codes for both cats. Is there anything else that might likely cause these codes. The light has been on for 2 years and its time for inspection again. Estimated cost for cats is 1400 to 2500 dollars. Thanks

What specificly are the Codes? If they are cat threshhold there is no other option but to replace them.
