1998 Ford Contour SE Rough Idle/Stalling

I have a 98 ford contour and recently since it has gotten colder (40 degrees and lower) it will start just fine but then it stalls when trying to idle or will idle very roughly. During the rough idle all the lights will also become dim and brighter. It has 101,000 miles on it. Any ideas?

Make sure the battery is fully charged and the alternator is putting out sufficien voltage first of all.
