1998 Ford Contour rough idle and stalls

My car runs extremely rough at idle and sounds like it wants to stall. It seems to be starving for something. When stopped at light the car surges forward. Have changed plugs and wires. Still feels jerky at road speed.

I was wondering if you ever figured out what was wrong? My car has been doing the same thing. Im only at 130, 00 miles and the other day I was driving home from work and it just broke down on me. It wont even start up now. I can jump it and it will run fine till I take off the jump cables.
