1998 Ford Contour V6 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 43,999 miles

well while I am driving it seemed to be having a hard time accelerating. Then all of a sudden it starts to make a clicking noise, it felt like there was something under the car. I started to smell a funky odor, and when I got out and checked the engine it was really hot and the place where I parked earlier had a wet spot. AGGHHH what is causing the problem? Can you please help me figure it out? THANK you *eMiLy

It sounds like you were overheating severely. Severe overheat can cause loss of power, followed by clicking which icould be the valves pinging and the excess heat casues things to smell. Overall the puddle of water under the car shoudll be the obvious clue that you are loosing water.

Start by checking the water level in the engine. I am sure that you have a water issue and I hope you have not already cratered the engine.

Do not drive the car until you have checked your water level.
