1998 Ford Contour Air Bag light blinking

My air bag light is blinking 4 times then pauses then blinks 2 times every single time. Could this be a code #? I am a single mom with 2 kids and on a very tight budget I cannot take it to the dealer. I have a family member that works on his own personal cars and am hoping this is not a major malfunction. If it is something simple (which I can't be that lucky) he would be able to fix it for me.I hate to think what would happen if the air bags did not deploy in a collision. Can you help me?

The airbag code is 42, LH Primary Crash Sensor Feed/Return Circuit Open. First, you need to check to see if wires are connected well. Then you may need to change the left hand crash sensor. Cost you $35 and 20 mintues.
