1996 Ford Contour will start but does not hold RPMs

I have a 96 ford contour 2.5, it will start but I have to keep my foot on the gas, and once I let off it dies, I have have my spark plugs replaced and my vacuum hose, What could cause that? And it is louder then usual under the cars cabin.

Most likely you have a vacuum leak need to check it

check idle air control valve clean and or replace

Check the wiring connecting to alternator to the battery. I had that problem. If you touch the wiring, it'll crumble in your hands. So, that wiring may need to be replaced.
