I have a 96 contour that just had a line spring a leak, it was not driven with out fluid as all the fluid leaked out overnight. After fixing the line and adding new fluid the power steering now does not work. I started the car and turned the wheels back and forth to push the air out, drove it around the block, but the power steering still does not work and the resivior is still full. I took the line apart where it was fixed and fluid came out, I took the line going to the pump off and there was fluid there. I do not understand why there is no power steering, can anyone help me? I don't want to just replace the pump if there is something else minor that I should do.

With the engine running crack the high pressure line and see if there is pressure.

There is pressure at the high pressure with it running. I loosened the sensor, started the car then loosened all the way, the fluid didn't have high pressure and spray but it was pumping out. I also took a few other parts of the return line apart and they had fluid in them. Do you have any other suggestions?

Look the high side of a power steering system has about 600 lbs pressure! If you took the sensor out and just got "some" out the pump is NFG!
