Fan Clutch

1993 Full Size Bronco. 5.8 Litre (351 ci) w/ac.
I have a constant chirp at start up.
A full squeel after running for about 1/2 hr.
I used a stethiscope on all the pullys except the fan clutch.
Everything is running smooth.
I removed the fan and fan clutch.
The spindle turns real hard but after a minute of turning it the spindle turns (almost) freely.
Shoud the spindle turn real hard at first and then loosen up?
Or should the spindle turn freely and then begin to turn harder.
As the motor begins to warm up, then become hot, it seems to me the clutch should engage more and more until it is fully engaged turning the fan at max.
Think I need a new fan clutch?

The clutch should engage the hotter the engine gets. This is a commonly overlooked item that can cause other problems that chirping.
Check the water pump?
