1993 Ford Bronco My temp gauge always says cold.

I think the thermostat isn't working or broken. The temp guage works, but it is always stays cold. When I start my car after it sits for a a few hours it idles high for about 5-6 minutes before it goes back down to 1,000 rpm.

I would suspect an open thermostat

If I were you just replace the thermostat, also check and test the engine coolant temperature sensor.

High idle problems: Try cleaning out the idle air control valve
