ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR
The ECT is mounted in the block or manifold to monitor engine coolant temperature. A signal is transmitted to the ECA, throughout the entire range of operating temperatures. In turn, the ECA adjusts air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and EGR operation. On models equipped with electronic instrument cluster, ECT output is also used to control the coolant temperature indicator.
