1987 Ford Bronco Ran out of gas

Ran out of gas now I cant even get the gas in the tank it just sit's at the top of the fill and when I put the cap on turn it over a few time's then take the cap off it blows the gas out the fill what is that what is the problem

The only thing I can suggest you check is the breather. If you look under the truck where the filler tube goes to the fuel tank, you will see a smaller tube that runs along the filler tube. It is a breather that allows air to exit the tank as you fill it. IF it is plugged, can can't enter the tank.
