When attempting to start vehicle, the ignition will not disengage. I took battery cables loose and then tried to hook them back up but the ignition was still engaged turning engine over. Any thoughts?

THX Doc for the speedy reply. I'll attempt to narrow down the problem as soon as the rain stops ! I think I'm gonna like it around here. What's the average for a first time donation? Let's keep it real now - ;o)

Any amount would be appreciated.
Try removing the small ignition wire from solenoid if that stops starter then solenoid is not sticking. Check wire for voltage if present with key in run then ign. Switch faulty.
Let me know
