The van starts to shake at higher speeds. You can press on gas and it shakes, let off and it quits. It seems to happen after it shifts into overdrive. It had a intake manifolded leak so that was fixed but did not help. We then replaced the computer chip and it did not help. The mechanic did a test drive and said when he touched the brake pedal it would not shake anymore. We are out of ideas

I need to understand something. Does the vibration go away when you touch the brakes?

Yes it does stop shaking when you apply the brake. I think it might be a bad cylinder because it runs rough and it might be a lack of power that makes it shake. By touching the brake I think it senses a need for more power that causes it to stop shaking but that is just a guess

I need you to check your front end components (steering components). Tie rods, ball joints.

The only thing I can think of is something is loose. Try this. Keeping your foot on the gas to make it vibrate, at the same time touch the brakes. Does the vibration go away?

Let me know.
Joe
