While driving my vehicle will periodically go into a forced idle state?

If I turn the vehicle off and restart it, it runs fine for a while but eventually it will do it again. It usually happens under acceleration mostly and it doesn’t have to be heavy acceleration. I don’t remember the code number, but one was a throttle stuck open code and the other was a p2104 code. The throttle body has been replaced and didn’t fix the issue.

Hi,

The code you provided is a general code and non-specific. It basically indicates a problem within the throttle actuator control (TAC) system.

If you look at the picture below, it defines the code. Additionally, since it is a general code, it requires the other codes to diagnose/problem-solve the issue.

Since it is an intermittent issue, it could be a connection issue or a damaged wire. However, we need to determine at what point there is an issue.

If possible, let me know what the other code was. If you can't remember it, stop at a parts store and have them scan it for you. Most will do it free of charge.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

joe

But if I turn the vehicle off and restart it immediately it goes back to driving normal which is confusing to me.

Also, the connector on the side where the motor for the actuator is not the TPS side, that connection was kind of loose, but it has no lock on it to keep it in place.

Hi,

As far as the connector is concerned, is it damaged (no latch)? Are you able to secure it with a zip-tie?

I attached a few things below for you to review and test. Try them and let me know the results.

Here is a picture of all the codes I got. Are they all related? Or is it multiple things going on?

Hi,

Yes, the all appear to be related. Keep in mind the ones that indicate pending and not active at this point, but are related.

Were you able to try the test I listed above?

Let me know.

Joe
