Floor shift lever not going into neutral drive reverse

The shifter moves freely with no resistance, but it not going into neutral drive reverse.

Hi,

Years ago, there was a recall on the shift cable breaking on this vehicle. Do me a favor. Have a helper with you. Open the hood and locate the shift lever on the transmission. It should have a cable running to it.

Have the helper shift from gear to gear to determine if the cable is moving the shift lever.

I attached a pic below showing the shift cable.

Try this and let me know what you find. If you determine the cable is the issue, I also attached the directions below showing how it's done. (Starting with pic 2)
