The car runs hot in traffic when I move it cools down. I know the fans are not kicking on. My mechanic looked at it and got the fan to go on by pulling a plug off of a sensor. I ordered a coolant temperature sensor hope I ordered the right part because there are two sensor near each other and both have the square plug. Also, I drove it again after he got them to work, and again they did not go on and I ran hot in traffic.

Thanks, Joe

It is probably completely normal. Most all electric fans are programmed to come on at higher temperatures intentionally. It is done for emissions and fuel mileage reasons. It will eventually come on but at a higher temperature than you are expecting. Unplugging the sensor proved that the computer has control and the circuit is fine.
