I replaced 1 Camshaft Position Sensor about 6 months ago due to the Check Engine light coming on. Took it to a shop and unfortunately didn't get the code just took the man at his word that it was throwing cam code. After replacing the light went off and car ran fine minus having had a few times where it would turn over but not crank (no lights came on), however in the last 3 weeks that has turned into maybe 1 out of every 5-6 times. When it does start, generally on the 2nd or 3rd try, it smells like it's flooded. It has been idling very rough and has been sluggish on acceleration. Sometimes just from the get but other times through all gears. Check Engine light came on a couple days ago and read codes P052A, P054A, P0017, and P0027.

Hello,

You have a VVT cam system in it or Variable Valve Timing. All those codes are related to it and one relates to the crank sensor too. So what's happening now is the computer is confused and warping out the cam timing opening the valves all wrong and its loosing compression and running badly. You're probably getting unburned fuel in the system making it worse as the o2 sensor is sending bad info now as well. Only one sensor was probably changed so whatever one that wasn't changed will need to be changed and the crank sensor at least checked. Get the other cam sensor done and let us know how it does.

Here is an article on variable valve timing for your review:
