Engine swap compatibility?

Can I swap a 2009 G6 2.4L flex fuel motor into a 2010 G6 2.4L flex fuel?

Going by the interchange it might as long the 2009 has the same option code as the 2010, There were 3 option type engine codes. The Federal NT7 and California emission options NU6 and NU1.
The Federal NT7 and California NU1 version only matches the 09 year and don't interchange. If it is an NU6 option, it shows as fitting from 09-11. So, you need to look at the option code on the engine.

They don't make things easy sometimes. It gets worse the newer they get. There are more than a few vehicles that use engines that are physically identical but use different electronics and that makes them boat anchors. GM isn't as bad at that as Chrysler, but they are getting there.
