Engine shudder

I was driving along for no more than 5 minutes when my car started shuddering as if I had put it in a higher gear when at a slow speed. I was doing 5 to 10 miles per hour in traffic, so put it in neutral then first gear. Still it shuddered. Then the engine light came on. Please does anyone know what could cause such an issue?

How far can I drive it in this condition ?

The first thing we need is for you to go get a scan done and report back what codes have set the check light, it should be okay to drive to your mechanic and get the scan done.

that is the best thing to do, do not push the car to hard until we find out what is going on.
