No problems yet, just can you tell if an engine is getting old and tired before it does blow? Wanting to know how much it will cost.

If it is burning a lot of oil that is one sign. Also if it was running like it was not running on all the cylinders. That could be a sign but not always a mechanical issue. If it is running good and not burning a lot of oil then I would not worry about it. If it were to just blow there usually is not a whole lot of warning in that case.
