Engine overheating while ididling

Was in heavy traffic the other day and noticed the needle was way over to the right and the red light was on. I immediately turned the AC Off and got the car off the highway. Finally got going again and the needle move back to the middle of the area where its safe.I believe my AC is going out. Also noticed that the fan that I guess cools the radiator is turning slower but again not sure it seems to be moving slow any help is greatly appreciated

Check coolant level and the thermostat.

You may have damaged the head gasket from overheating

Coolant level is all good looked for thermostat couldnt find it any help is appreciated

Follow the upper hose to the block. It should be in the housing
