Engine lite comes on and off

I have a 2003 pt cruser the engine lite comes on and off and when it is on it sometimes bucks in all gears except 5 gear and not all the time and tonight I went to start it it didnt want to start so I let it sit for a while and it started and the check engine lite went out on it and when the check engine lite is on when I start it the low on gas lite doesnt come on but when it didnt start the low on gas lite came on could I have a bad wire

First thing is to have the computer scanned for codes. Some auto parts stores will do this for
FREE!
Next, have the fuel pressure checked with the key ON and engine OFF, with the engine running and during cranking.
The proper fuel pressure should be 53 - 63 psi (key ON, engine OFF)
