Engine light will not clear

Had code read, said distributor cap and motor so had replaced light still on after battery disconnected for a while still on. Had it read for code again and still read same code?

Diagnostic fault codes never say to replace a part or that one is bad. There also are not any fault codes that refer to the distributor cap on those engines that still use them.

What we need to know first is the exact fault code number(s). Those will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis, or the unacceptable operating condition.
