Engine idels down on it's onw

My1996 Nissan pathfinder runs great but when I go to a stop it idels down so far it almost dies then it idels up where it should be and every thing is o.K. No check engine light come on. Or if I cruse around town or on freeway it will kick and buck a little and it don't miss fire eather while it is doing all of this. I replaced the fuel filter, cap and rotor and it still does it.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks and the idle air control valve (IAC)? The IAC is responsible for maintaining the engine idle.

Well, I went to the dealer and there was a knock sensor fault, and a had the wrong plugs in the Nissan, I had the Bosh plugs and I has been four years ago I replaced them. So I got the ngk that they use. So they eaid to do the plugs first.
