I have this vehicle I’m working on, and I can’t seem to figure out the problem, it has a misfire on cylinder number 2. Spark plugs and coil pack was replaced, and it seemed to help a little but after you drive it some bit the misfire code come back on. I tried disconnecting all the coil pack one by one to test them and it seems to at when you disconnect coil pack on cylinder number 2 the engine doesn’t seem to hesitate when unplugging it but if you unplug the rest of them the engine hesitates a little but before I plug it back in. Any feedback back would be great.

Hi,

If you can disconnect the coil and it doesn't change how the engine is running, there could be an issue with the new coil, no power to the coil, a fuel injector issue, or a compression issue with that cylinder.

Since you replaced the coil and plug, I suspect the injector, or compression may be the issue. However, check to make sure you are getting spark on number 2. Also, note that the code isn't only a misfire code. It is specific to the cylinder 2 coil primary/secondary circuit.

Here is a link that explains how to check for ignition spark:

If you are unable to perform the aforementioned test, switch coil 2 with coil 1 and see if the misfire changes cylinder. If it does, replace the coil.

Next, if changing the coil doesn't cause the misfire to change cylinders, do the same with the fuel injector. Switch them. Also, once it is off, here is a link that explains how to check an injector. This will also confirm the power and ground to the injector.

Try these first and let us know the results.

Take care,

joe
