im in need of a new engine and transmission. as it sits now, the motor is a 6.2l non turbo diesel. its on the verge of blowing up. before my brother passed away we were discussing putting a 6.9l DURAMAX and Allison combo in. the suspension, body, and interior are all in dirty, but suprisingly great condition. no rust or tears in fabric. how can i achieve this for under 10k?

actually with a diesel you want torque not hp.if you have a 6.2 already just put in a 6.5 but not a turbo one. it will give you about the same maybe a little more. That will be the easiest and cheapest route for you to go without replacing the truck. Although being a diesel it will still be exspensive.
