The car will start and run fine for a while, then it starts sputtering bad and won't accelerate like it's out of gas or something. It does eventually shut off. It was only happening when it was low on gas but now it does it whenever. I can press the accelerator to the floor, and it does no good. Sputters and shakes badly. It doesn't rev up the motor at all when I floor it when this is happening. It does eventually get back to running. But I never know when it's going to start acting up again. I'm actually on the side of the road now, lol.

Hi,

When this happens, do you ever notice any dark smoke from the exhaust or odd smells?

Next, what you described sounds like a failing crankshaft position sensor. When they start to fail, they are adversely affected by heat. Once the threshold is reached, the sensor fails, and the engine will miss and shut off. Then, you need to wait until it cools before it will restart.

Do me a favor. Take a look at this link and let me know if anything mirrors what you are experiencing:

Let me know.
