ECM smokes when you try and crank it up. It will turn on battery wise but you pretty much have to floor the gas while turning the ignition all the way after a few minutes. If you're sitting idle like at a light it will shut off. No noticeable wire damage that I can tell. Would I be able to replace this myself with a salvage ECM or what?

Good morning,

You could get a used one from a junk yard but it needs to be programmed to your car.

You need special equipment to program the module. It is best to have someone do this for you.

My question is, why is it smoking? Because if you do not find out why then the replacement may do the same thing.
