The computer displays various System Error messages on the dash plus on the Navigation System screen. The Navigation System is not working, nor the A/C. The transmission shifts very erratic. I added fluid, as it'd registered as being low. At this time, I did the System Reset and numerous times. It didn't change, a thing.
The trunk's opened while I'm driving. Would a code reader show the source of this problem? Can this computer be repaired? Are there any other options available? Please, can you help? As a senior citizen, my low fixed income did stop all attempts to repair this unreliable car. I feel it will be done soon leaving me stranded.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Honestly, just about anything can be checked using a scanner. However, not all scanners can read all types of codes. For example, the basic scanners are good for engine/power-train codes. Components such as the ABS, AC and so on require a much better tool.

Here is a quick video showing a scanner is used:

Now I realize most people don't own a scanner. However, often times a parts store will scan it for free or lend/rent a scanner to you.

I truly feel this is where we need to start. It could be something as simple as a low voltage issue resulting from a weak battery, loose or corroded connection on the battery, or even a weak ground.

If you could have it scanned, let me know the codes which are retrieved. Also, if you could tell me the specific system error messages you are getting, it may point me in the right directions.

Take care,
Joe

The OBD tester listed the following error codes: p0746: clutch pressure control solenoid valve a stuck off. P0767: shift solenoid valve d stuck on. P0777: CVT driven pulley pressure control solenoid valve stuck on. While these error codes refer to the transmission problems I am having, there were no error codes listed for
All of the other issues. Nothing showed for the navigation system, the a/c and why
Do the various error lights keep showing up on the dash and the navi screen, and trunk opening? Can this computer be repaired, or does it need to be replaced? Is installing
A new difficult?

Welcome back:

I've never seen them repaired. As far as replacement, it isn't hard but programming is required.
