Hi
before anything you guys are great
well I have my talon tsi 2.0 turbo
and is making all kinds of things only when is in drive. Makes a not so loud grindding noise, it vibrates and it goes really slow when you put it in drive or reverse and give it a lots of gas to move, but when you go over 35mph it runs fine and shifts fine
i have some "mechanics'' looked at it and they told me all kinds of things one told me my tranmission its gone, otherone told me motor mounts needed to be replaced with sensors and transmission, and the last one told me the torque converter has gone bad
can you please tell me what are the signs of a bad torque converter.
i really hope you can help me I love my car
thank you so very much for your help and quick respond.
by the way all of this started after a tranmission filter change.

After the trans service it started. Is this still a problem? If the service technician was not sure he may have checked and topped it off in Park. Many transaxles had to be checked and topped off in Neutral while running. With the parking brake on of course. Your owners manual or dipdtick tube or other specific information will tell you but if I remember correctly, it has been a while, there was a 1 3/4ths difference between the two methods, enough to cause all the symptoms you have noted so nicely.
The torque converter is checked like any other converter stall test but I don, t remember the RPM specs.
If it needs engine mounts it needs engine mounts, don't blame the servicing mechanics for not catching something like the fluid level if that is what's wrong. It was a common mistake. I know.
