Hello Corry,

P0770 - Shift Solenoid “E” Malfunction

This solenoid controls the torque converter lock up. This can also be because the fluid needs to be serviced, Lexus is very prone to wearing out the fluid which causes the problem you are describing. I would change the fluid out first and then clear the codes to see if it fixes the problem. Please use:

Toyota Type T-IV ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid)

Or, you can change the solenoid and the fluid which the location of the solenoid I provide in the images below. Please let us know what happens.

My car is having hard up shifts between gear two and three
I have drained out the transmission fluid and am dropping the pan and need to know what solenoid to take out and where it is and then test

I see the red arrow pointing to the solenoid in the diagram you sent could you direct me in the video I sent using the color of the connection points that I will have to unplug And I will send video of bottom of trans valve body can you direct me to the solenoid I need to take out? Is it in the front left of the video where there are 3 solenoids close together? And I sent this video to a transmission mechanic and he said there may be a roller bearing/ bearing roller missing do u see this and where n what is that? Agian ammco gave me a p0770 code and the trans is having slightly hard upshifts between 1-2 gear and 2-3

Thanks for the videos, if you remove the filter and you can see the orientation of the valve body compared to the image above. It looks like it will be the one with a violet wire.

Ok I tested the sylenoids and they all worked and put em back however when I went to put in the drain plug I had left the wires hanging I no I put em back up in the clip however they must of come off and can see them sitting rt above the drain plug on the inside of the pan. Should I break the seal to the gasket and take the pan off and hang them up correctly or would I be able to just put the drain plug in and fill it back up with fluid? I’m waiting on a new drain plug from eBay that’s why I haven’t filled it back up yet and realized this after testing sylenoids and putting gasket w gasket maker n pan back up, stupid mistake ino...

Please let me know if it’s OK that I did not hang the wire harness to the solenoids when I put the pan back on. Can I fill up with transmission fluid or do I need to take the pan off again and hang it back up on the clip?

Hello Corry, If the wires are connected correctly to the solenoids you should be okay.
