Welcome to 2CarPros.

Only use Honda's recommend ATF (Honda DW-1 ATF).

Here are the directions for servicing the transmission:

What about clutch actuator oil? One of my mechanics have replaced that oil with dot 4 and has re-calibrated the transmission. I have run my car for almost 300km and there is no issue. My concern is that oil dot 4 was the right choice?

Welcome back:

When you say clutch actuator oil, it sounds like it is a manual transmission. I am familiar with the dual clutch design, but Dot 4 is brake fluid. Yes, on a manual transmission it can be used in the clutch master cylinder and slave, but not as transmission fluid, so, I'm a bit confused. It shouldn't be put into the transmission. If it was placed in the clutch master cylinder reservoir, that should be fine.

Hi Joe,

I have the same question about clutch actuator oil for fit hybrid. I have seen some videos on YouTube that mechanics changing clutch actuator oil with dot4 brake oil, and they recommend replacing it every 20,000 to 30,000. Is this right?
Also, could you place tell me the washer size of those transmission drain plug, or where I can find fit hybrid workshop manual?

Thanks

Hi,

Are you changing the manual transmission fluid or the fluid in the hydraulic clutch? They are two very different things. You can not use Dot4 in the transmission. I don't want you to damage the transmission, so let me know exactly what is being done.

As far as a manual for the Honda Fit, save the money. Chances are I can get you anything you need. If, however, you want access to manuals, I recommend checking into either Alldata or Prodemand online. Let me know if you have anything specific and I'll try my best to get what you need. Also, let me know the model year.

Take care,

Joe
