Shifts into neutral while driving?

My car is a police interceptor, it shifts into neutral while driving almost as if it lags between gears and then jumps into gear if I give it extra gas or it happens some times when I am turning a corner and I let off the gas as soon as I give it gas it just revs as if it wants to go, but drags. Took to Aamco for diagnostic only code came up was for alternator. I replaced it but it still does the same thing.

It sounds like the transmission filter has come loose inside the transmission which will cause the problem you are describing. OR the front fluid pump is going out and the transmission needs to be rebuilt this video can show you how to remove the unit so you can have it rebuilt.
