Car shakes violently when accelerating over 30 MPH. Otherwise, everything works well. Just bought the car and need to get it fixed.

Yep, this is common when the CV axles need to be replaced. The CV joint gets worn out and does not work smoothly under power, if the vibration goes away as soon as you let off the accelerator would replace both axles.

This guide can help you:

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Ken,

Replaced both CV axles and the ride is much better.
There is a loud clunk and jerk when transmission shifts.
My mechanic says motor mounts can be a problem with 217,000 miles.
Do you think that may be the problem or something else?
Can I fix this myself?
Thanks,
Charlie
