The truck listed above is a 2500K HD crew cab. Driver's seat back support needs to be repaired. The upper right shoulder portion of the back support twists backwards when seated in chair. It appears that something is broken in the chair. Is there any way to remove just the chairs back support seat cover without having to remove the entire chair to gain access to the inside of the chair to fix the issue?

Hi,

It sounds like the frame has broken. As far as removing the cover and pad, it requires the seat to be removed. I did add the directions for removing the cover/pad, so you could try getting it apart in the vehicle, but I suspect it will need to be removed.

If you need to remove the seat, the last two pics provide the procedure.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it works out for you.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you for the help. After 5 hours of perseverance and determination I did manage to get the fabric rolled up on the back support while in the truck. You were correct, the weld broke on the lower passenger side of the frame. The dealer cost for the frame is about $300.00 and a month for shipping. Do you suppose the break could be welded together? See attached picture. Thanks again for your support.

Hi,

For that price, I would certainly try to weld it. It should work. If you plan to do it (and I personally would try), make sure to remove the seat and anything on/in the seat that is flammable such as the cushion. We don't need to burn the truck. LOL

Let me know how it works. Again, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Take care,

Joe

I went ballistic on dismantling the back portion of the seat and I am glad I did. I found another broken weld at the top as well. I had a welder take care of the breaks where he added an angle support piece to strengthen the two corners. Now I'm just waiting for a new cushion then reassemble. Thanks for your support.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. That looks like he added gussets to it. That will certainly make it stronger.

Let me know how it turns out for you.

Take care,

Joe
